Im 18, I havent been sexually active in almost 2 years.

I am scheduled to have my first gynocological appointment at the end of this month, while I am there I am going to request to have a STD test and screening for HPV/HIV pretty much everything possible.

I know I am healthy and clean and have not contracted anything but I want an official test to tell me so.

I have had 4 sexual partners

always used a condom, except I was with partner #4 for 1 year, and he was a virgin (I was his first) and we had had unprotected sex 2 times. That was over 3 years ago, and any sexual experiences I had since was protected.

I know my risk for contracting anything are quite low considering Ive always protected myself, but I've read and seen stuff on television regarding things such as HPV that are through basic skin/to skin contact and it has frankly made me quite paranoid about the whole situation.

How long does it take to get results back for STD tests/and exams (through pap smear, blood, or urine) and how accurate are they usually?

Can someone please share their experiences regarding STD tests..etc.

It's good to be educated regarding STD's becaue tehre are so many now but it's made the whole idea of sex (in the future) a paranoid/un fun experience/idea. I know I dont have anything, but Im paranoid that I do or something wont come through accuartely, I dont know.

um well, they put you on a table and tell you to spread your knees apart like you're trying to touch them on the walls, and they use a speculum to crank your vagina open and swab the insides to get a specimen for the lab.

after they do that, they'll send it off to the lab and depending on the location and business of the lab that week you should get the results in a week or so.

Then they take you into another room, draw blood, and send you on your way.

it's not that bad really, my gynocologist is very very nice. I'm sure yours will be too.

If you were a man they'd put a q-tip up inside your peehole. Consider yourself lucky.

Here in canadia they call you as soon as they get the results if there's anythinh wrong, but after a month of no calls (which is usually the case if you've been safe) you're a-ok.

For me they did a vaginal swab, urine test and blood test all on the same day cause apparently it's easier to use some or the other for different std tests... but I doubt every place does that. That's how it was for me too- they call you right away if anything is wrong, but after a month or so of no calls, everything is good.

if ive never had any tests done before, would that influence the screening/reading?
