| my first std test was a hell of a lot less traumatic than i thought it would be. i was absolutely ****ting it before i went in, not because i was worried that i had an infection, just because i thought it was really going to hurt and it was going to be horrendously embarrassing.
so first of all the nurse took me into one of the treatment rooms and asked me some questions like:
-how long had i been sexually active
-when was the last time i had sex
-what contraception was i using
-had i ever been pregnant
-had i ever knowingly had an std
etc etc. then she did the internal exam, which consisted of doing 2 or 3 swabs. the most important thing here is to RELAX, seriously. if it feels painful, take a deep breath in, then when you breathe out, try and relax your whole body and the whole procedure should become far less painful.
then she did a quick blood test and that was it. they said they'd call in the next month if they found anything, but if i hadn't heard from them by then it meant i was clean.
seriously, try not to worry about it. i'm sure it'll all be absolutely fine and good for you for being sensible and getting tested! |
