my first std test was a hell of a lot less traumatic than i thought it would be. i was absolutely ****ting it before i went in, not because i was worried that i had an infection, just because i thought it was really going to hurt and it was going to be horrendously embarrassing.

so first of all the nurse took me into one of the treatment rooms and asked me some questions like:
-how long had i been sexually active
-when was the last time i had sex
-what contraception was i using
-had i ever been pregnant
-had i ever knowingly had an std

etc etc. then she did the internal exam, which consisted of doing 2 or 3 swabs. the most important thing here is to RELAX, seriously. if it feels painful, take a deep breath in, then when you breathe out, try and relax your whole body and the whole procedure should become far less painful.

then she did a quick blood test and that was it. they said they'd call in the next month if they found anything, but if i hadn't heard from them by then it meant i was clean.

seriously, try not to worry about it. i'm sure it'll all be absolutely fine and good for you for being sensible and getting tested!

focus on something on the wall. if its like, a poster, talk to yourself about the poster (not out loud, they'll think your nuts)...e.g. 'its blue..outlined in white...etcetc'.
just don't think about the situation in hand, you'll tense up and it'll hurt like a ***** then.

don't worry so much!
your chances of having an STD are incredibly small, given that you've always been careful. even if you did have one, most are easily treated with antibiotics.

the test itself isn't really painful, but it is a little uncomfortable. it's best to be as relaxed as possible when they do it.

the same goes for the internal exam, if they do one as part of your appointment. we don't have routine gynae appointments in my country, i don't know what they'll do for that

if you do find it painful, tell the doctor and tell them where the pain is as some gynae conditions would cause pain during the exam.

but i'm sure everything will be normal

thanx guys.

I think I feel a little better, I'll just have to relax.

I'll let everyone know how it went, even though its not for a while.

thanx everyone
