AngelDust, nearly every single person over 40 in this country is Catholic. But eh I dont think Ive ever had a doctor tell me to pray away my pain, lol. But definitly switching to a female doctor, no doubt about that.

I would write a letter of complaint to the practice manager at your surgery. Regardless of whether terminations are legal or not in Ireland, his job is to be impartial and his views shouldn't ever be apparent to you. People in your situation need support ideally, and neutrality if the doctor doesn't feel like they can give support, but never condemnation. COMPLAIN!

Some people still go private though because of wait times. My friend almost did because she found out she was pregnant at 6 weeks along, which is still medical abortion time, but the waiting list was over 3 weeks, so she would have had to have a surgical abortion. And she just wanted it over and done with. I think she ended up just calling the clinic multiple times a day til they had a cancellation.

i hope you're doing ok sadeyedlady. big hugs.

and what an awful doctor i hope you can find a female doctor but it sounds like the irish public opinion is so strong you might not even find that much empathy from a woman if she's older and catholic and can't remember what it is like to be young. it isn't like anyone ever wants to get an abortion. but sometimes it is necessary
