Hi all,

So my mom is diagnosed bipolar. She doesn’t see her dr. and she doesn’t take her medication. Life is unbearable with her at this point (and that is putting it lightly). We have asked her to go time an time again to see her doc, and she refuses.

Is there anything I can do? I’d like to call her dr. and see what steps I should take. Can the county help me at all? I’m in the US.

Anybody with this kind of experience? I need help.

what? shes mentally unfit. she has a 16 yr old to take care of. she needs help.

im not sure there's much you can do... unless she's dangerous to herself or others.

has she told you why she doesnt want to see her psych?
i mean speaking from personal experience, it might be that she's resentful about having to take the meds. and feels that shes "crazy" because shes on psychiatric medication.

maybe sitting down and talking with her, will help her come around? just like express the fact that you dont think shes "crazy" (even if you do, ha), but just think she'd be a lot happier if she was on meds.

i know it can be frustrating. my mother is also bipolar (as am i), and its unbearable at times when she's not on our meds. and of course shes said the same about me lol. i hope everything works out for you. good luck
