Stuck in a rut?

So how have you gotten out of a rut in your life?

To sum it up, I don't like school that much or what I've been studying and I think I would like to do something working with design or fashion, but I know that making it in that business is difficult so it's not practical.

And then the biggest thing is I don't like my current group of "friends" that much. Like I still talk to my old friends on the phone and stuff but it's not the same and some of them got pissed because they don't understand that I really can't afford to go visit them.

My current friendships are more of people do drink with/get high with. They just aren't people I connect with. But I guess that happens when you get older too.
And then the last thing is- I'm really flat broke as in I don't have a savings account anymore since I had to pay for school (which I'm starting to feel like it's not worth it) and starting tomorrow I'm off of my mom's insurance.
I'm pretty sure I'm depressed but it's like a really shitty calm depression. Like I just want to stay home all day and smoke by myself and I feel not invested in my life.

Here's what I've started to do to fix the situation:

-Joined some clubs yesterday so I can meet people with similar interests.
-Got a job I like and I'm doing sewing and stuff. Mostly low level stuff but I'm learning a lot.
-Started to clean my room so maybe I'll feel more on top of things.
-Being more conservative with my weed since I'm gonna need it to make it through these times.
-Waking up earlier so I'll feel more in control, so far this part has been failing and I actually am sleeping in later and missed class this morning.
-Trying to make a schedule so I don't feel overwhelmed and I'll always have something to do

I can't be the first person to feel depressed and lost, people who have felt like this and then gotten better, what did you do to fix life?

i struggle with grief & depression. so it doesn't get the best of me, i have to work at it.

treat yourself like the goddess you are. have a fresh flower or plant by your bed, and/or a pic you love. start your day with a breakfast like you would make for your best friend. have food that you like enough to make you want to get up & eat it.

take a brisk short walk early in the morning, on a quiet street, if you can. being out at daybreak is a magical feeling. see the sky turn color & appriciate it. the feeling of accomplishment after exersize is always good.

find events to look forward to & put them on your calendar. as for meeting new friends, go alone to events (i do this at booksignings - they usually have wine & snacks).

buy yourself little treats. set aside time to just "be". say positive affirmations every day.

have nice sleepware and bedding. you should pamper yourself when it comes to this. use your favorite fragrance before bed. have nice pillows and/or stuffed animals. decorate the way you like, w/o thinking about what someone else might feel about it.

get rid of so-called friends who don't bring real joy into your life. they prevent you from finding true friendship. and waste your precious time.
remember, you deserve the best!

I agree on getting rid of no good friends, it seriously works.

Agreed. They don't even have to be friends. Just acquaintances, or people who you surround yourself with. If they're no good....keep away.
