i have been taking a big combination of psych meds for nearly 10 years. today i found out that some of them are fucking with my hormones, ceasing my periods. i was told when i was 15 that i may only need to take them for 6 months to 2 years. well i'm 25 now and i'm on more than ever.
i want to stop taking them and everyone gets ANGRY with me when i say that. nobody can force them down my throat and i'm going to refuse to pay for them if my bitch of a mother keeps trying to tell me i 'can't' stop taking them.
has anyone else quit meds cold turkey because of the shitty side effects?

i was diagnosed with bpd when i was younger and i honestly think meds made it worse.
jo i really dont think you need to be as heavily medicated as you are. in fact i think it could probably be contributing to your problems more than helping them. in my experience all the meds did was make me feel worse. they were switched around often to the point where i almost felt like a guinea pig. when i was about 19 i just cold turkey quit taking them. i WOULD NOT recommend this though.the withdrawl was awful and it basically made me certifiable for a short amount of time. it also caused me to have severe anxiety for years which i am just now starting to get over.
sure i still get depressed, and i still get angry, and anxious. but ive learned to control that without taking a pill. the pill is more of a suppressant than a fix. at least i dont feel like a zombie you know?
maybe you could cut back on meds and start seeing an actual therapist, not someone who just doles out pills. but someone who will help you sort through your problems while transitioning off of the medication.
i think most of the people who are on meds do not need to be on them. they just need to find a way of dealing with their demons.

I was on zoloft/altruline and I stopped because I can't afford them. I have more important things to pay for like clothing and transportation for instance. And university.
