Thumbs down I'm so fucking depressed and the meds don't work

The drugs don't work!

I've been dosed so many times and it has had an effect on my weight and my mind and I'm tired of it. I mean, obviously there isn't a magic pill to cure me so am I gonna have to feel like death itself for the rest of my life?

Counselling will help. People underestimate the good of talking things through can do.
Having a good group of friends and family around to bring you out of your shell and help you smile more will see back to your old self in no time.
Maybe you could try joining a class like yoga or spin to help make you feel accomplished.
At least when you're physcially tired you don't have time to dwell.
Hope you feel better soon.

do you have some specific reasons for your depression (i.e. worries, relationships etc.) or it's just a feeling you do not have an explanation for?
I ve been struggling through depression for years until I discovered that ANY feeling is telling us something from the deepest part within ourselves: perhaps you're not happy about certain things in your life, or you deal with them the wrong way... try to "embrace" depression and learn from it, or at least try to understand its message, of course you don't have to feed it but to heal it. let your feeling express themselves through writing, arts, cry freely and try to spend more time in touch with nature.
comedy movies help too .. and working on the changes that would make you feel better.
hugs!

Hey grapes,

I have something called psychotic depression, which I thought was schizophrenia at first but turned out not to be because when I hallucinated, I heard more than one voice. It's like a DVD commentary with several people speaking whereas schizophrenics tend to hear only one voice at a time. So I have PD and I'm on Celexa (a generic version of Lexapro) and Abilify. Abilify to keep the voices away and Celexa to keep me "happy" but I've yo-yoed from taking Seroquel and Risperdal, which has caused me to gain loads of weight. My periods aren't even regular anymore and I have to take estrogen pills to get it back. It's just really frustrating because I've been fighting this for three years with the help of doctors and therapists and nothing is working at all. I mean, I listen to inspirational CD's and the like but NOTHING WORKS. I mean, I'm eternally fucked up until I end up jumping in front of a speeding train one day.

Oh honey I know how you feel, it sucks!
I used to have those "conference calls" in my ears too until i decided to shut them up.
honestly, i don't think that all these chemicals are the best idea for this kind of problem..actually, from the experience of friends i ve only seen worsening through meds. the hormonal ups and downs won't help either...i think that you have way too many substances running in your blood and maybe these are the cause of the voices: too many nervous stimulations, maybe you shall try to simplify the confusion: cut down the meds, take your time and create some silence and peace around you.
new age CDs are not ok in my experience....actual silence is so much better. if you need to sleep get some chamomile tea, try to love yourself in this harsh time, taking baths, sleeping, walking in a park, sitting by a tree and do nothing at all....the train option is not very sexy, darling.

make a massive change in your life. move. or get a different job. physically change your primary location so your outlook cannot help but be forced to take in different things every day. it worked a bit for me.

Do you eat healthy? What's your diet like? Have you been to a physician to get checked out? Sometimes vitamin deficiencies can cause fucked up things like this.

Maybe you're on the wrong meds? Seroquel did nothing for me.

Have you been on them for at least 6 weeks?
HAve you tried another type?
Is it an SSRI or what sort is it?
What symptoms? Just basic depression?
Have you tried upping your b vitamins?
Are you getting enough sleep?
Is it circumstances or general depression for no real reason?
Are you suicidal?
Don't be afraid to call a crisis line if you need to. Maybe they can refer you for counsel as well?

Good luck.

May I recommend a wonderful book that has really changed my outlook on life. I was struggling with depression pretty hardcore last week and this book has helped. "The Power is Within You" by Louise L. Hay.

*sends good vibrations your way* HUG
