Schizoid & Avoidant Personalities

I refrain from calling them disorders as such.

ruling out shit like risperidone, what processes are there to undertake which undo the chronic habit of inner regression?

like if you were sent to a therapist, what are the standard procedures for de-retarding someone from their personal narnia?

I'm kind of pessimistic, you're essentially asking someone to disassemble their entire world voluntarily then settle for an inferior product; you might as well hand them a gun no?

There are other effective talking therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural therapy and Psycho-therapy which are effective with such personality disorders. As a member of the NHS I have yet to experience such benefits because of staff shortages here in the UK but perhaps one day I could disassemble my world and buy into the inferior design.

I don't really believe in personality disorders. Or insanity, for that matter. An individual personality is comprised of different traits/tendencies/inclinations/strengths/weaknesses which influence how he/she copes with the environment. This environment is subject to change over time, hence what constitutes insanity is subject to change. I believe that people who are labeled as having a particular personality disorder simply have similar personality traits. It's ok to group similar people under a common classification, I guess, but I just don't like the way people consider them diseases. Or "disorders" of the mind. There is technically nothing wrong with how their minds function, they just possess certain personality traits. One does not have Antisocial Disorder, one has antisocial tendencies. People who suffer from "OCD" are but victims to their overly obsessive/compulsive tendencies. And so on.

I agree when it comes to PERSONALITY disorders. altough the DSM IV that's used here in north america to diagnose pathologies is based on precise criteria...so it's very ambiguous. I believe everyone has some kind of personality disorder anyways...
