| Loss Of Childhood Memories OK. I have a family member who confided to me a few months ago that they don't have any memories of their childhood. This is especially strange considering we grew up side by side. If I reminisce about a birthday party or a specific day they don't remember. That in itself is odd. I just had a friend of mine reveal the same thing. I know victims of violent crimes, rape, and molestation can repress traumatic events for years. But this doesn't make sense in these cases. First off, neither was molested. (That they know of- and it's a safe bet neither was.) Secondly, it doesn't seem that a particularly traumatic memory was repressed. More like all memories. They still remember everyone they've encountered throughout their lives. They're both males of the same approximate age.
It's very strange. I've never heard of this before. I tried to look it up online to see if there is some kind of psychological syndrome. All I could think to type in was "childhood memory loss/psychology". I couldn't find anything, though. Has anyone else on here ever heard of something like this? |
