How do anti-depressants affect you day-to-day life?

I'm talking both positively and negatively, i'd like to hear other peoples experiences and how medication has impacted on the various parts of their lives.

I kinda feel like the grass is always greener. Ultimately I know that medication keeps me safe and quiets my mind/anxiety allowing me to have a relationship, go to work and not do anything stupid. At the same time i think it makes me apathetic and thats not good because i am less likely to escape my dead end job. I am not as creative while on medication and this is an issue because my major love is photography and i don't feel like i can be productive. Socially i'm more at ease but at the same time my minds often quiet like i don't know what to say which then kinda makes me feel outside of my group of friends. It's a vicous cycle but maybe i'm over analysing again, i'd just like to get some spontaneity back.

Good: My rituals/compulsions are pretty much slim to none, I get episodes of mania which are fun.

Bad: Constantly tired, no creativity and a rapid heart rate which makes me dizzy/gives me blurred vision if I stand-up too quicky. I'm getting off this one. Fourth time lucky

anti-depressants: Zoloft. Works great, no real side-effects at all. Just keeps me to where I'm not fighting that downward spiral thing all the time, so I'm on fairly level ground and my energy goes towards actually moving forward.

It's the anti-seizure meds that have the bad side-effects! It's like my memory card has been erased. I just don't remember things at all anymore, especially long-term. I feel like I'm gonna fall asleep at the drop of a hat. So, I'm just a tired old retard now.

Even heavy-duty caffeine barely makes a dent.

no side effects?! lucky you.

ive just gone back on sertraline/zoloft.

it gives me fucked up dreams, makes me really apathetic and spaced out, i have trouble focusing and making sense of things. and it leaves me unable to write.it makes me feel kinda sick sometimes too.the first few weeks i was cutting loads as well, i just didnt care.

and it makes my alcohol tolerance plummet, i know im not supposed to drink on it but i do anyway and i get drunk so quickly.plus, if ive been drinking for a few days solid, i feel awful afterwards, like absolutely hopeless and miserable.
