anxiety

what do you feel when you are anxious? I mean, how does your body react to anxiety?
because my doctor told me that i'm anxious, but i'm not sure about his diagnosis.
it's been two weeks that i have shortness of breath, muscle tension on my left part of the neck, difficulty in swallowing and the feeling of something in my left part of the thorat and pain in the left part of the neck and shoulder.
i know that these are common symptoms, but i'm afraid because it's only in one part of my body (the left one).
i'm sorry if i sound stupid or whatever, but i'm really worried.
anyway, i'm having blood tests next week, but i was just curious.
thanks.

yeh, definately the muscular aches, headaches and a feeling of uneasiness. you'll also be irritable, maybe because you're not getting enough sleep from worry.

you may become jumpy, jittery, sensitive to noise etc.

butterflies in your stomach making you think you're unwell, you get a feeling of dread about seeing a person or visiting a place you do not feel comfortable with.

i'm sure there are more. i think it all depends on the circumstances.

did your doc suggest any relaxation techniques or therapy?

google FIGHT OR FLIGHT SYNDROME. there'll be symptoms of anxiety there, but the ones i get mainly are tingling & numbness in my arms, nausea, unsettled stomach, dizziness & other stuff including the feeling that there's something stuck in myy throat & i can't breathe properly.

maybe you're hunching your shoulder subconsciously & the muscles aren't relaxed, & that's why you're getting the muscle tension/pain.

actually i'm just worried because the pain/numbness is only in one part of my body.

ps. thanks for answering! i know i'm a pain in the ass with all this doubts and question, but i'm really scared.

your doctor sounds a bit shit. maybe the pain/numbness is a trapped nerve or something & the worry about what it could be is making you anxious. hmm...why he hasn't sent you for an x ray is beyond me. try not to worry too hard, although that's easier said than done. i think that if he thought it was anything symptomatic of anything really really serious then he'd have you at the hospital straight away.
