something i've tried for anxiety is melatonin.

google melatonin and anxiety to read up about it.

it calms you. i'd take a tablet or half a tablet in the morning if i'm going through a rough patch or if i'm not in the mood to face humans. it makes my day easier and even makes me unusually happy without any side effects.

it's something you'd usually take to fix your circadian rhythm if you're having trouble with sleep or to readjust your body clock when you're jet lagged or something but it's also suitable when taken in small doses for anxiety.

"People with the symptoms of severe mental illness, severe allergies, auto-immune diseases, or immune system cancers such as leukemia should not be taking melatonin. It is also not recommended during pregnancy or for women who want to conceive."

if your pain is in the left side of the nek, you can easily have numbness and tingling on that side as well. and that would be related to a pinched nerve. it has happened to me twice this year. one on each side. the first time it was so bad i was in tears and it hurt to fucking cry. i was helpless, they put me on valium. the numbnes and tingling was on the right side of my face in my tongue and down my arm.

this time i knew exactly what it was and called the doc immediately and got skellaxin. i hate being on drugs that make me feel wonky, so im glad i was able to avoid it. its lasting a while, but its mild this time.

well, i did anxiety crisis 5-6 years ago.
it all started one morning i had an exam.
i didn't sleep and i did my 1st anxiety crisis that morning, threatened, i didn't understand nothing.i didn't understand what was going on.
i couldn't normally breath and i had huge stomach pains. in fact, it was caused by the general tension. i couldn't eat as i should for months. of course, i lost a lot of weigt. i just couldn't eat nutritive stuff like pasta, potatoes, meat,...i could only eat yogurts and cereal bars
i did a deep depression, with impressive anxiety crisis.
my parents made me to see a doctor. he told me i was doing a deep depression, with a real huge anxiety problem.
i took medicine (Xanax at the beginning, then i took Lexomil, anti depressor stuff and somnifers) and i did a psychotherapy...for 1 year and a half, which is a long time when you're 20.
one day i decided i had to stop all these pills, and i though i didn't need a psy anymore. i got well that day.now it's ok, i know how to react when i feel too anxious.

i think your doctor was right. but, hey, i'm not a doctor!!

I used to have massive anxiety problems. I feel like I can't swallow properly, sometimes that I can't breath properly because there is a weight on my chest. I feel MASSIVELY dizzy, and sometimes sweaty/tingly cold at the same time. Anxiety can get you in all sorts of ways.
