My doctor said I can't have tylenol cos of my liver (she doesn't know I had been drinking a lot). The pharmacy just called & said I have to pick up my prescription for 45 tablets. So, even if I lose some codeine in the prosess(sp), I don't mind.

I've already posted this on the Drugs.com forum. Someone there used a coffee filter & now I can't find their post.

If your liver is messed up then your doc needs to have that in LARGE RED LETTERS on the front of your chart. If s/he thinks you need to be prescribed codeine, you need to get in contact with her and have her prescribe you either plain codeine, or something else in the painkiller realm which does NOT include Tylenol.

For example, do you have any difficulty or allergy w/ aspirin?

Under no circumstances try to "filter" your meds to try to separate the codiene from the tylenol. Very bad idea, with extremely low success rate and dodgy end product.

i'm with chyia, your doctor can prescribe codeine alone or with other pain killers less liver toxic than tylenol

i've seen someone die of overdosing this on tv, it's a grim long slow death, one of the worst ways to die, and if your liver's fucked the safe dose is pretty much zero

Right on, Pwincess... I'm suprised my liver's not completely shot to hell by now. Oh well. I suppose I have plenty of time. Acheiving hepatotoxicity isn't that hard.
