Ok... so what I'm wondering is, if methadone is a medication givin to herion addicts (opiod addicts in general) then why do people also seek it on the blackmarket? Because from what I know, methadone stops the herion high so why do people want a drug that stops you from getting high? Is there some special way to abuse it & get high? Can you snort it?

it's a drug that metabolizes very slowly so instead of getting that intense rush you just get a mild high that reaches a high plateau and keeps you at that even level for about 24 hours. with tiny itty bitty pupils.

you still get fucked up, especially if you don't have a habit.

it also stops the withdrawal feeling, so even if an addict doesnt get the rush from it that she gets from traditional opiates, she isn't going to be dopesick and will be able to function like a normal person.

ive also heard it is one of the hardest drugs to quit. worse than heroin by a long shot according to many a junkie...

yes, its a drug given to heroin addicts. On my ward, we give bottles out to those who are addicts and they drink it down. going cold turkey is quite bad, need to go down in stages.

why do people seek it? You have to be prescribed to get it. maybe admitting that you are addicted to it and it going down on your records is more daunting and makes you paranoid. Most people who are addicts dont care about whats really in the drug, they want that high.
