getting your wisdom teeth pulled

so after putting it off for 2 years, i have to get my wisdom teeth pulled bright and early at 7:40 am on Friday morning. I'm going in today for a pre-consult.

im fucking TERRIFIED. all 4 have to come out, all 4 are impacted, and i'm bracing myself for the worst.

i tried to explain that i have a very high tolerence for pain medication and can feel no effect from 5-6 vikodin, and because of my asthma they won't put me under... so they're doing this all only with a local anisthetic.

opinions? experiences having yours pulled?

i tried to ask my dad (who's a denist and doctor), but he being him, is like "ah it'll be a piece of cake, they'll just rip them out, you won't notice" -- this from the same man who said i should "suck it up" when i broke wrist and the bone was coming through the skin-- so that's not an opinion i trust. and my oral surgeon is my dad's friend and his advice is "oh ask your dad, whatever he says is pretty reliable".

I have just had mine done recently
Not to scare you or anything, but I needed a shit load of stitches and lived on milkshake and mashed potatos for a week and a half.
Did hurt, but it's worth it because I'll never feel those wisdom-teeth-of-the-devil, EVER again.

I had to have all 4 of mine taken out at the same time which were impacted like yours. Luckily, I had twilight sleep and just a little nauseous when I woke up. This surgeon pulled them out from the side so I did not have to get stitches either. Just had to drink shakes and mushy food for a few days and lots of percodan.
I have heard so many horror stories but I did not have a bad experience so I guess every situation is different.

I need mine removed and they're perfectly healthy. They're TOO healthy to be removed just yet because apparently it will require more surgery and pain than if they were impacted. You're lucky, actually... I wish mine would start to rot or become impacted, they give me hell nearly every day.
