increase calorie intake

hi guys.

i am 22 yrs old and about 5'5-5'6 at most. i weigh 125-130ish (so im pretty lean if you can imagine). i would like to increase my weight by about 10 to 20 pounds, but i have a very fast metabolism and this is difficult. also, i have a small stomach which lately can not seem to hold too much food.

are there any foods/products that you can recommend that would greatly increase my calorie consumption that do not require me to eat HUGE quantities? ive been thinking about kashi go lean for the protein portion, but im not sure if they are big on calories.

thanks guys. i really like this health forum

I dunno about how to heighten your calorie intake but I don't think it's necessary... 125-130ish at 5ft5 is not underweight.... I'm 5ft6 and weigh 121pds but I don't think I'm underweight.

But any way, of course if you want to gain weight then that's ok because a couple pounds wouldn't hurt... I just wanted to point out that you're not really underweight so you shouldn't really worry about that.

good luck .

and oh. as I said before I don't really know anything about nutrition but maybe you could try eating more pasta? I always hear that's good for gaining weight......

Think of food as booze; the more you eat the more you can take. Increase your calorie intake little by little each day. Carbs are good for this. Cheese, bread, milk, meat, and pasta will help.

I'm 5'9 and about 125-130 and I'm in no hurry to put on weight. As life goes on you put on more weight, so I wouldn't try and whack it on now. Better to leave it and wait for the weight to come. But anyway, if thats how you want your body to look, its your call, so I would suggest eating lots of peanut butter. Very high calorie in very small portions.
