Should this be happening (a pill question)

I've been on ortho cyclen for two months now, and both of my last two periods have been so heavy that I've got to skip school.

They used to be so light I barely noticed it. THIS SUCKS.

Would it matter if I changed pills or am I just doomed?

ashums has a little shameless behaviour in the past
All I had ever taken was OrthoCyclen, and I always had really heavy periods.
Just this year I switched to Yasmin, and my periods have gotten much much lighter. Like, 3 days shorter, and light flow tampon light.
Sorry, probably too much info, but its actually really exciting to me! 8 years of crazy super periods, now this!

Well certainly everyone I know who is on monophasic pills has had their periods lightened (its a listed side effect), so if it bothers you (and skipping school seems pretty pestersome), ask your doctor to change you from a triphasic (ortho) to a monophasic one.

Monophasic means each pill you take contains the same levels of oestrogen/progesterone. This is the case for the majority of contraceptive pills. Some pills are biphasic (the first week has one strength of pills, the other two have a higher dose) or some are triphasic (have a lower strength in the first week, then a higher strength in the middle, then a lower strength again at the end). The latter two are pretty uncommon in the UK, most people are on monophasics.
