I had mine taken for the first time a few months ago and I fainted.

She took my blood from a vein in the back of my hand because I didn't want to roll my sleves up and I was fine with the needle going in and I didn't feel a thing but after it was all done I was just staring at the blood across the table and started thinking 'my blood shouldn't be over there... it should be in me' or something weird like that, and then everything shut down.

And I had the biggest bruise I've ever had in my life on the back of my hand.

God, I can't even remember my first blood test, I've had so many. I guess part of that is my fault for becoming a vegetarian at 7... they love to stab the vegetarians for blood just incase they are anaemic. I've also given blood twice. The only bad blood removal experience I've had was with having an arterial tap. I was all prepared to be brave because I'm fine with blood tests and I hate it when people make a fuss and although I stayed silent it was very, very, very painful and I had a bruise over ten inches long from it extending up from my wrist. It looked, quite literally, rotten.

Incidently, for the people who get freaked out seeing their blood in tubes, how do you cope with periods???

Sitting in the waiting room was also a fairly cringey experience, as my appointment was at 9 and I ended up going out the night before and bringing some friends back to mine afterwards, and they didn't leave until nearly 6am...so I thought no sleep would be better than a tiny bit. So there I was, 9am, sitting in the waiting room in last night's little black dress, last night's makeup and hair like a bird's nest --- looking pretty much like a prostitute
haha it would have topped it off, it this was a pregnancy or sti blood test <3
