I was prescribed clonazepam a couple of years ago... At the time it really helped me when I needed it, and it was good when I didn't really need it, but I found that I easily built a tolerance to it and when I took it later because I really needed it, it didn't do much.

I didn't notice any side effects, I went to sleep easily at bedtime but it didn't make me drowsy during the day. If it wasn't for the quick tolerance built-up I'd say it's a pretty good med.

I love wellbutrin. The first time I was on it the side effects were stronger. I lost a lot of weight (I was small starting so people thought I had an eating disorder, especially since I couldn't eat really rich or greasy foods), I got incredibly hyper, and was incredibly horny (I've read of it being prescribed off-label for low sex drive in women). The second time I lost a little bit of weight, had more energy, and also had bad headaches for the first couple of weeks (they went away). I have to take it in the morning, as well, because otherwise I get insomnia.

Wow, awful cherry! I didn't know anything about the off-label use for low sex drive. Is that only for the female side of the populace, or is it used for males as well?

Just asking cause I know someone (OK, OK -- it's JB, my husband, heh ) who is of course quite male and, back when he used take Wellbutrin alone for depression..... if it works for elevating sex drive in guys as well, uh, well, that WOULD explain a few things that tended to occur whilst he was on that & not taking all the other crap he has to take with it currently. lol

As for the clonazepam/Klonopin question; it's a benzodiazepine, as is Valium. There are a whole family of these, Xanax included. Some people build up a tolerance to clonazepam (and/or the other benzos) extremely quickly. Others...er, no. Very individual response. Some of it dose-related, at least initially; and some of it apparently not.

Clonazepam is used for anxiety; for seizure control adjunct-therapy in some patients; as a trank/sedative; for panic attacks; and sometimes as adjunct therapy to anti-depressants. I've seen it used in ADD treatment as well.

JB takes the stuff, but it makes him extremely tired and not want to be active at all. We are talking the "Come home from work, veg out in chair & fall asleep before 7:00 p.m." syndrome. Also he has put on a ton of weight, for which I think this med is largely to blame.

I was prescribed it but quit taking it after 3 months. One more thing to make me loopy I DON'T need! lol I will only take some if for some reason I am too wound for sound and there's no way I'm gonna be able to de-hyper myself enough to go to sleep for a couple of days. And then I use it gingerly. It gives me a hangover next morning.

OTOH my s-i-l takes it religiously (panic attacks) and has no probs.

Are you taking it for a specific condition such as anxiety (if you don't mind my asking?)?

Best,

Chyia, pharmacuetically enhanced

I used to take paroxetine. It was teerrrrible. Gave me OCD, serious mania and bizarre numbness/tingling down one side of my body if I was only an hour or so late taking it. Bad shit. If you are depressed/have anxiety at the same time, take a tricyclic. Apart from the nausea at the start, it works wonders without turning you new forms of crazy.
