I started the pill about two weeks ago. There is always information on the commericials and in the package about how smoking while on the pill increases your risk for clots, heart failure, et cetera. Yet, smoking does that to you anyway, so I'm wondering how much of a difference it really makes. My heart is hurting more than usual, and I'm wondering if it's from smoking while on the pill or if it's all in my head.

Personal experience stories would be great.

They tell you not to do it for a reason. Smoking- increases the stickiness of your blood, therefore increases the risk of blood clots. The pill has a similar effect. Together it equals an extra high chance of having a blood clot. If I were you, I either give up or swap contraceptive method.

i was on the pill for about four years, and i smoked the whole time.
i never had any problems.

but...just to be safe...pick one.
blood clotz could totally ruin your day and stuff.

Everyone I know who is one the pill smokes and I've never heard of any complications or anything.

First two years on pill I was smoking almost all the time...
It will be good just to decrease cigarettes if you can`t quit them.
