I am on prozac and have been taking it for a few months. I have smoked weed while I was on this medication and the reaction was somewhat different to when I used to take it without the meds.

I am going to a party this weekend, and although I have a good back bone and wont take drugs if someone offers under pressure and will only do it if I want, I was wondering if anyone has taken lsd or cocaine whilst they were on their AD and if their reaction was somewhat worse then when they werent on the meds?

Well. If you have depression, I have to say that it's best if you stay away from LSD and other hallucinogens.

I'm on Wellbutrin XL and pot gives me body convulsions.
But I'm okay with coke, even though it can induce seizures.

and a coke crash will not be prevented just bc ur taking an anti depressant, in case u thought that u were 'protected' from it bc of the anti d. the blow will get u high but bc ur body chemistry is no longer the same as before it may have a much more negatiove impact than what u've experienced before.

in my opinion its not worth it. LSD works on the dopamine centers of ur brain prozac is a seratonin based drug (sorry i'm being techinical) so even though they work on different parts its not a good idea to find out if the combo makes for an extrodinarily bad trip or not. With the pot some ppl who bc paranoid and experience different highs than before may be bring on more problems in terms of symptoms to the surface (kind of like boiling water)

but its ur choice if u want to try it anyway but be aware that its not going to be the same as before and there are alot more factors to take into account

what about mushrooms with antidepressants and mood stabilisers?

do you guys think that if I stop taking prozac now and began taking it again in a week or so, it would be okay? The party Im going to is on friday, so thats 5 days to get the prozac out of my system.

Thank you for all your advice, I doubt I will take lsd with my prozac but there is a chance I will drink on friday which I know is stupid but I want to drink too.

each med has whats called a half life .......how long it stays in your system after the last dose u take.......... i dont know what prozacs is off the top of my head but u can lookit up if youd like. basically it stays in ur system for awhile even after the last taken dose. how long after? thats determined on the dose and how long ago and consistantly u've taken the med.


if you drink go in moderation bc u wont know how its going to be metabolized in ur liver. ie if itook a 6 pack ofbeer for u to get drunk before dont be surprised if 3 or 4 ends up rocking u much more than u expected

Definitely not. You cant just come off and go on prozac like that - you will be so severely depressed, its not worth it just for one party, is it?

no its not. I know its stupid. I know this whole thing is. But it just sucks because all I would like is to drink and be merry and not having any bad side effects, like I used to have before I was on prozac. I know its stupid.

I want you all to know that I do have a sensible side of my head, like we all do, but I also have as a side that just wants fun for a night. I guess I can still have fun without drinking and stopping my meds, Im just being an idiot.

Its not stupid. You just want to enjoy yourself. If it was me, i would probably have a few drinks (id probably have more than a few!) but i was able to drink ok on meds (although i wasnt on prozac). I wouldnt take drugs though, and i wouldnt come off the pills just for the sake of one night out.

Prozac takes longer than five days to get out of your system.

It is possible to enjoy yourself without doing drugs. It just takes more willpower.

Personally, when I would drink on Prozac, it would knock me on my ASS... so I would recommend taking the drinking very slowly, and carefully. As far as the drugs go, I can't help you out much with anything other than pharmaceuticals + anti d's.

Whatever you choose to do, please be as careful as possible, and come back and tell us how everything went!

if you are going to get high onanything, stop taking all meds a couple days beforehand. and dont do anything that fucks with your emotions ffs.

I take Effexor XR and Xanax. Incidentally, a friend came by with cocaine today. I don't usually snort (there are many other things I'd rather spend my money on). However, if a friend has it..okay, they can talk me into a line or two. It works the same on me as it always did, except I don't crash and burn (bonus!). LSD hasn't been available to me since before. Ecstacy doesn't work right... I can't really roll. I just want five gallons of water and five packs of cigarrettes when I do it.

Oh yeah, the weed. Without meds I couldn't smoke because I'd get so paranoid. I can smoke now without that side effect.
