scars

about 2 years ago i walked to the store in some new sandals and they rubbed a load of skin off my feet and made them bleed. i still have quite noticeable scars from this

9 months ago i very lightly burnt my wrist on a hot dog machine at work. i still have a noticeable scar as well

but 4 months ago i had an operation, with two incisions in my abdomen. i noticed today that those scars have almost completely healed! they looked awful after it was first done, i thought they'd be around forever.

why is this? does the belly get a better blood supply, helping it heal? is the skin on the feet and arms harder to heal?

i am curious.

does anyone else have peculiar scars? people always ask about the ones on my feet and it's such a silly reason

You didnt take the sandals off!!! Oh my. I have tuff feet coz i go bogan and wear bare feet whenever possible.

only a guess of course, but it sounds like the incision for the operation was more neat? maybe...

I have a scar on my face from being bitten by a dog when I was four, except it only started showing about 5 years ago (I'm 17). That's weird i guess.

I have scars on my feet too. Eight in fact. Also from rubbing shoes. They look awful. I'm trying to get rid of them with Bio Oil and it seems to be going ok.

I think the better healing on your abdomen is probably a combination of better blood supply and softer, less exposed skin.

I have a scar running up the first joint on my middle finger. It's been there since i was a kid and i somehow cut my finger on the wall as i was running up stairs. I also have one of the tip of my index finger from when i was about 5 and my friend snipped my finger tip with a pair of scissors. Both those scars are noticeable but are from trivial injuries. The scar on my calf from when my leg fell between the boards on a jetty though is very, very faint.

yeah the skin on the feet is thinner and generally recieves less blood. also the skin recieves more trauma and friction, from shoes etc so will always heal slower. you can never get rid of scars but keeping them well moisturised helps. also keeping the skin on the feet well moisturised in general makes it stronger and less susceptable to damage from rubbing and friction.

I'm going to guess and say from my experiences, maybe the fatty tissue
helps the scar heal better. I had a nasty cut on my ankle which that area
is just skin and bone. It was very bright purple and even after it healed, the
scar hasn't faded much even though I used aloe every day.

When I had my c-section, that scar faded away nicely, maybe because it's
an area that has loads of fat that enabled it to heal well (?)
Recently, I had a nasty head injury when I fell and the cut was on the side
of my eyebrow. The doctor glued it instead of using stitches. It is not very
noticeable, though I am self-conscious about it. Maybe the fact that my
hair covers it up helps too.
