Restless leg syndrome

Anyone else get RLS? My mum used to get it really badly and i always thought she made up the term 'restless legs'. It wasn't until recently that i discovered it's a real neurological condition. I've experienced it on and off since i was quite young but lately it's been driving me crazy. It kicks in at about midday/early afternoon, for some reason going away by mid evening. Thankfully i rarely get it when i'm trying to sleep. I get it up both legs and even feel the discomfort into my lower back.

Has anyone managed to pinpoint specific triggers? Or better yet, found good ways to get rid of the discomfort that don't involve running a marathon or climbing fifty flights of stairs?

I have it too, during the whole day, but it gets worse when I'm in bed, all comfy, just about to fall alseep.
I think that may be my triggers: comfort and rest.
Weird, I know.
I have no way to get rid of it, thankfully I don't have it REALLY bad like my aunt.
It doesn't really ever go away, I just get so tired I fall asleep.
Now that I've heard you say both you and your mom have it I wonder, could it be a heredatary thing?
It has been linked to fibromyalgia, and my aunt and I both have that.

did you see that thing on the ABC about it? it was very interesting.

i dont get it so much anymore, but for a period of my sleeping life it was hell. i always called it JUMPY LEGS. its really awful.

i had to learn how to divert my mind from it. or else get up and remove myself from the bed situation.

No, i didn't see the thing on the ABC about it. I wish i would have though.

I had it again today starting in the afternoon and going just as it got dark this evening. I still feel like i want to walk/move but it's no where near as uncomfortable as it was earlier. It's so weird. It's only been for about the past two weeks that's it's been really bad. If i get it tomorrow i might try going for a quick walk to see what effect that has during an 'attack'. I actually walk a lot due to not having a car and i'm pretty sure i'm getting the restless legs on days i go out & get home early or i don't go out at all. I don't know why it's popped up so suddenly though, the only thing i can think of is hot weather as it seems to start in the hottest part of the day and go when it starts to cool down

VioletPrue - i've done a bit of reading and apparently almost half of cases are genetic so i probably did get it from my mum.
