How to delay the onset of a cold??

I'm clutching at straws here, but I feel responsible for what's happened to my boyfriend. I seriously doubt there's any way to do this, but if any of you have any idea of something to try...

He's caught a cold off me - I told him he should stay well away but he just doesn't listen - and has his music performance very soon. This is one of those "waking up in the morning unable to speak" colds, as I found out when I ran to the phone yesterday. So we're pretty worried. He's got to sing a Dylan song to an external examiner; I tried to give him some hope, saying it might give his voice a rough 'edge', but he's worried it'll wreck the one high note he has to hit.

Any ideas would be appreciated...I feel pretty bad, this performance, in the next few days, counts for 15% of his mark. I'm not quite sure how bad it is at the moment, because he is likely to be exaggerating for extra sympathy.

A friend of mine takes plenty of vitamin c tablets and drinks a lot of lemon tea and stuff filled with Vitamin C. She rekons it stops it, but I think it could just be a placebo effect.....dunno.

vitamin c will help as its an anti-histamine. all that and plenty of sleep. gargle with warm salt water. take those sleepy anti-histamine tablets and knock yourself out. sleep is the most important thing. i can get over a cold in two days.
