Pissing blood

Well last night, at about 1am, I went to the loo, found it hurt a lot and then noticed, oh good lord, I'm pissing blood. After that I needed to pee about every five minutes, it was agonisingly painful when I stopped and clots of blood were coming out. I rapidly concluded this was NOT a good thing to be happening and went to A&E, where (suprisingly enough), they diagnosed a UTI but also a kidney infection. Which is the weird part because my kidney has been hurting for atleast a week, maybe more. I just thought I'd pulled a muscle or something. But the bladder thing only started yesterday- so they reckon that might have come down from my kidney. But how do you get a kidney infection without a UTI? I've never had a UTI before but I'm always very careful with peeing right after sex and drinking at least two litres of water a day etc. etc. Wonder why my kidney has let me down? Anyone got any ideas?

If you read the post, I went to the doctor DUH (A&E= accident and emergency) and they diagnosed me with said kidney infection and gave me antibiotics but gave me no explanation as to why I suddenly have a kidney infection.

you poor thing! UTIs can lie dorment for months, you may have contracted it before and it made its way up the ureter to the kidneys.. this is regardless of water intake as an infection won't be affected by that.

I'm pleased it was sorted out for you, have you googled your condition?
