questions about eating/sleeping problems

I started this thread because I'm curious about other people's experience with eating or sleeping problems. I'm coping with both. first I need to clear out that when I'm mentioning eating problems, I'm not talking about any disorders like boulimia or anorexia.

my view on food or nutrition is that it's an necessity to function your body properly. I don't see it as something tasty or good to have. sometimes I have to force myself to eat, it has become an obligation. I don't really think about 'oh it's noon, so I should probably have lunch'. mostly during the day I don't eat at all, except for coffee/tea/juice/water. usually it's around dinner time that I have solid food. I know this isn't healthy, it's no way near the amount of calories a grown-up female needs. when I happen to be working on something or when I'm busy with being in the middle of something, I'm so occupied that I forget about everything else (including to eat). so it doesn't
have to do with weight obsession at all, somehow I just don't appreciate food like normal people do. so my question is, who else has similar eating problems or has some advice on how to make a change. how do you deal with it?

I should probably say that I'm not really concerned myself, cause I've gotten used to this 'life style'. it's the people around me who constantly tell me that I should eat more. oh yeah, small detail: I'm a smoker, so that obviously got to do with the lack of appetite too.

as for sleeping problems. have you ever been so tired that you couldn't sleep? if you cope with insomnia, how do you deal with every day life? any useful tips to stop your mind from thinking when you're in bed? how do you try to fall asleep, even when it takes you more than three hours? and I'm not really looking for classic answers that have to do with medication such as pills or herbal tea, aromabath therapy etc. I refuse to be hooked on something.

I like to keep myself busy, I like being distracted, basically I'm a nights person, that's when I get inspired. and that's totally okay when you have the day off, no responsibilities whatsoever, just not so fine when you have a busy schedule next day (school/work etc.) when your eyes can't focus, you get cold all of a sudden, body begins to shake, you become so irritated and annoyed by people, you're way too pale etc. etc. etc.

what do you think would happen if you only slept about four hours every night? how would that affect your body and mind? could it turn into a serious damaging type of thing?

sorry if this is such a long post...

uhuhuhuh.

Anyway, I have these problems too. Lack of appetite is usually because you've been eating little for a while and your body gets used to this, the stomach 'shrinks', you get full/feel sick fast etc. If there's not a medical reason, the way to change things is forcing yourself to eat. I love food but now even if I'm hungry and have good food in front of me I'm not necesarily interested, It has to be something very very tasty for me to really feel like it.
I have had sleeping problems my entire life. These things makes me very tired, all the time, studying gets very hard for example. When I sleep I can sleep for a ridiculously long time, i used to wake up wanting to get up after twelve hours, now can stay in bed for 24.
Discipline is a key word here.
Imagining an empty room and decorating it can help you sleep(keeps your mind off important things, you step into another world start living there instead)
Sleeping pills can be used for a short while to get on track or sometimes when you really can't even though youre trying. You do not have to get 'hooked'.
If you have the discipline, force yourself to be up the whole day and stay in bed at night for a while, til your body learns when's the time for things.
