It doesn't wash out, it fades over about 6 weeks. It isn't the same as a permanent dye in that it doesn't have re-growth and it doesn't mess your hair up as much, but if you've bleached your hair or used a permanent dye I think they don't recommend going over it with the henna because it can react and turn your hair green. I'd recommend reading the instructions very carefully and be prepared to set aside an evening in which you don't mind clearing up the mess and having slightly smelly hair.

and about the bleaching thing, the hair dye DOES NOT contian any of the metals that other hennas do, its FINE to bleach over, it just might not hold as well....
