i have found the cream jars of manic panic to be like a conditioner when i use them
i usually even leave them on overnight when i use them
and regular hair dyes are very harsh and drying
but i don't know what shades manic panic has to offer that are not vivid colors other than black...

i vouch for what phoenix rose said in the above post, it conditions the hair.
(i've not ever left it on overnight)

ive heard that brewing black tea and then soaking your hair in it for 15 minutes before rinsing can help darken it,
