i find if i breathe deeply & concentrate on breathing it hurts less. i have a high pain tolerance too.
just make sure you aren't going when it's close to your period 'cause you're more sensitive then.
there's not a lot you can do to prepare for it to be honest.

Gently exfoliate beforehand.
