Creative ways of asking the name of a bad perfume

A subtle yet horribly irritating and vile perfume happened in my life recently. I have to deal with it for a little while, everyday.

I would like to ask the person what brand it is, out of curiosity and really, because I cannot believe that a famous and great nez could have created it. It doesn't smell like anything I know, I don't recognize the signature at all. But it doesn't smell cheap either?

I am a bad liar. So I can't ask the name of the perfume and say it's because I like it, my face betrays me in such situations.
The curiosity is killing me.

How should I ask for this information in a diplomatic way?

KR, I know you can be creative.

What if you just say, "That's an interesting perfume you're wearing. What's it called?".

Or would it be too obvious?

Simply bring up the topic of perfume. For instance, say that you got a voucher and you are wondering what's good from the fragrance store, or some ****, and hope she brings it up. Or do that, and casually ask her what she wears/likes.

TheEmpress, from now on if I get the "interesting" comment, I'll know what it means! It sounds like the equivalent of "special". Yes BlackMilk I could talk about girly stuff and lightly mention perfumes.
Thank you.
