| | | Growing out hair dye, making it fade faster. GOT ANY TIPS?
For the first time since I was about 13 I am going to try and have natural hair.
At the moment my hair is quite long, past my breasts, dyed black, which has faded to a tonal very dark brown with darker ends, with about 3.5 inches of natural roots. My natural hair colour is brown with it going reddish in the sun so the roots look a little more auburn because the top of my head gets most sun.
ANYWAY, I want tips of how to make my hair dye fade faster. I'm going to get it cut so the stubborn ends are gone-I will probably get about 3 inches cut off, but I need the middle bit to fade faster. I am currently shampooing my hair twice and leaving it on for a while and right now I have pineapple shower gel on my dry hair for 30 mins before I wash it.
I don't want to try one of those proper hair colour strippers because most say you have to dye your hair afterwards and the whole point of me doing this is so I can see how [ugly] i am naturally.
Any tips will be good. I guess I should wear my hair up more to distract from the roots.... |

| | | Black is a ***** to get rid of. I'm going through this myself since December 2010 and it's faded to a dark reddish brown, but it doesn't get any lighter than that and I just have to be patient, I guess. I did try the natural stuff with lemon juice, sun etc but I'm too afraid it would damage my hair further.
Not helpful, sorry. :/ |

| | | Before wet shampooing, take a blob of shampoo and use it on your dry hair before you go into the shower. Kind of a "pre-shampoo" before the actual shampoo.
Use Aveda Hair Clarifying shampoo or another brand of hair clarifying shampoo. Generally you use it about once a week to remove product buildup, etc. Use it three times a week, every other day to speed up colour removal. It's worth pointing out that you should be using a tiny amount of leave in conditioner every time you shampoo because if you don't, all this cleansing will render the condition of your hair akin to that of hay.
Use dandruff shampoo to speed up colour removal. The thing is, after washing, you need to leave the shampoo on your hair for 30 minutes. Again, use a leave in conditioner as this too will dry the hair out. |

| | thanks guys! I will definitely try these things
Gaukeley, what is your hair like? I want to see a pic of you.
P.s I didn't know what a clarifying shampoo was. We have some "Amargan Hair Therapy Oil" in our house so I guess I will need to use lots of that.
