trying to slightly lighten hair

a few months back i went from bleach blonde to way dark, almost black (unintentionally...i wanted more of a color close to a hershey bar). this was back in feb. now i tried to put that new colormatch (or whatever) by loreal on my hair to give it more of a golden tone, but it only worked on my roots. no matter how much i wash it my color WILL NOT FADE.

for those of you who have been in my situation, what have you done/used to solve this? i really cant spend the money at a salon, so what are my other options?

what brand name of dye did you use when you tried to go dark?? Cuz some brands(like "Nice and Easy") can not be dyed over and such . . . even with bleach. My hairdresser explained this to be awhile ago. Most dyes just cover each strand of hair(these can be dyed over and they also fade), but some dyes actually go in to the hair and these ones are the hardest to do anything with. One of her other clients used nice and easy to dye her hair black and even salon bleach didn't do anything to it.

Sorry, i could really help.
**Good luck!**

well i went to a salon to darken it, and the color came out waaay too dark. i cant afford to go back to a salon (as i payed 117 dollars for this ridiculous dye job).

then go back and complain. Say that the color they used wasn't the color you asked for. If your unhappy with it they should fix it for free.
