washing hair after dyeing it

I've heard conflicting advice in regards to washing hair after dyeing it. Should you wait for 24 hours after dyeing it before washing? Or is it ok as long as you use a mild/gentle shampoo? thanks!

you should definitely wait.
and when you finally do, use a mild shampoo.

Yes definitely wait, not sure which country you are from but the salon brand protective sprays found at your chemist/pharmacy are excellent too for keeping you hair in shape for future dyeing. I use Umbertto Gianni (although you wouldn't think so since i've miss spelt it). There was once a time when I'd bleached my hair for so long it always stayed poker straight, you definitely don't wanna damage it with over dyeing like that.

if you want to leave it longer between washes, i would recommend batiste dry shampoo, it works very well (and seems to help with volume) and is super cheap (like £2)

the pink one smells amazing

Salons use a particular type of conditioner immediately after chemical processing that stops the oxygenation of the dye, perm solution, relaxer, etc and seals the colour/treatment you just had. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the conditioner ATM but do you live near a "SALLY" or some other place that supplies to the hairdressing trade? If so, go in there and describe what I just described to you, they should be able to locate exactly the conditioner I'm talking about. You can't buy it in salons or at stores, you need to go to somewhere that supplies hairdressers and salons specifically, the conditioner completely neutralises the chemical process and seals the cuticle, leaving your hair in impeccable condition. I had a huge bottle of it and used it once a week as a deep conditioning treatment, I need to find this out myself - it worked better than any over the counter deep conditioner I've ever known.
