People who know a lot about skin...

I dried out all my "active" acne with benzoyl peroxide but I still have clogged pores- like the tiny skin colored ones that never form full on pimples but won't go away. What's a good (cheap) way to get rid of them? and how do you get rid of the scars from where the acne used to be?

and what about Vitamin E Oil for healing scars? will that clog pores?

exfoliate. a good cheap option is to mix cetaphil cleanser with baking soda.

also don't touch your face too often. and a zinc + magnesium supplement might help.

Look into glycolic acid infused pads. Google "DCL" + "glycolic acid pads". DCL do a 20% strength that you use twice a week. They're similar to Clearasil pads in appearance and even out skin imperfections.

As far as acne scars go, if you can't afford to see a dermatologist, order Retin A gel on line, it genuinely helps with the appearance of fine lines and people with acne scars have sworn their conditions have improved. You need to persevere at least 6 months to see any result

NOTE: you MUST use a sunscreen of at LEAST 30 SPF with glycolics and Retin A, this is non-negotiable - if you use these products without a high SPF you run the risk of hyperpigmentation, skin sensitivity, moles, brown spots, etc.

odessa, I'm SO glad you stumbled upon this thread. I've discovered a moisturiser and toner that contains kojic acid and helps to lighten skin naturally. The range is called "Petal Fresh", I found it in a skin care emporium just up the road from where I live, I've used it for three weeks now and already my skin is looking more even and translucent. It's not at all expensive, I dunno if you can find it in NZ but here is their homepage:

PETAL FRESH PURE

I can't believe I found this stuff in what is essentially a "cheap & cheerful" skin care emporium. As you probably know, the Japanese go apeshit over kojic acid as a skin lightening tool and, unlike prolonged use of hydraquinone, is NOT carcinogenic. Even if you have to pay over the odds for P&P, the results are definitely worth it.
