makeup for film, photography and theater

I'm looking for a good starter kit. It will mostly be used for Film making and photography. Anyone know of a good kit? I have found a few on Amazon but I cant find any reviews...

Theatrical Cake Makeup Kit by Ben Nye
and
Master Production Kit by Ben Nye

Any information about either of the products would be helpful. I really don't know much about film/photo makeup and I don't know anything about this brand.

any Other suggestions?

For brushes

Wait until a sale happens at Michaels (or another craft store) and just buy the brushes there (paint brushes). It's the same thing and a helluva lot cheaper. That's what everyone here in L.A. does. I get so pissed when I need paint brushes (I paint) and all the makeup artists in town take em all during the sale.

Why do you need something that says "theatrical" on it? It's just normal makeup... I do film and tv at college and we just bring in whatever matches the shoots needs.

And my photography teacher just uses whatever she thinks is nice. Oh, and fuck brushes, she uses her fingers and it looks better because it doesn't cake up.

Oh wait. Are you doing visual effects stuff or just models/people needing to look pretty? Because if it's VFX ignore my post. Can't be arsed to edit it because I hate the edit thing down beneath the post.
