i highly recommend MAC brushes. i got a set in a purple silk wrap and they are fabulous. half of makeing eyeshadow look good is in the applicator.

bare necessity I'd get the following:

angle brush for fine lines and filling in eyebrows.

synthetic is also good but you'll get what you pay for. The brushes I linked are MAC 269, 239 & 222.
