hair product question

I seek a specific one to fulfil a specific hair need. However, my main tool for describing beauty requirements is the waving of my hands, which is a bit useless on the internet. I shall do that anyway, and see if any of you are also watching my bedroom window and pick up some kind of relevant semaphore gesture.

I'm after something to make my hair less like a huge clump and more like curls. My hair is naturally a bit curly, but it mostly looks a bit Patti Smith. Which I like, but I would also like to be able to get it neat sometimes. My hairdresser puts something on my hair, gets sections between her fingers and twists them round, and they go into curls. Not ringlets, which are horrible. She does this with all of my hair. It ends up being quite loose curls, but all over, and that stay for a few days until I wash my hair. It looks good. What is this magical potion? My hairdresser is in Nottingham and I am not, so I can't go ask her.

I don't know if you have it in the uk but the best thing you could do is use pantene's leave in cream called natural curls. My hair is naturally curly, but I've seen people using it and all you have to do is use your fingers to make curls.

If you want to make it last longer you'll mix a bit of hair wax in that - I don't know if it works but my friend does it.

i have wavy/curly hair and when i want it to wave i use toni & guy soft curl cream - which is the shit - it gives nice shape but is a really nice light texture

or for when i want more defined curls or longer hold (i usually wash my hair every other day but if i know i am not going to be, i use heavier product so it doesnt turn into a rat nest) i use their twist it curl balm which is also super amazing

i have tried sooo many other things over the years and these shit all over them. plus they smell nice. if you ever wear your hair straight, i can also recommend yjr t&g texture paste for good hold & matte finish, cause i find products that make yr hair too soft and shiny unmanageable

you can get little travel size versions of all of these in boots, so you can try them and see if they work for you

Thanks for the replies. We probably do have the Pantene one in the UK, Mallory, since there tend to be quite a lot of Pantene products around. I don't use anything Pantene because I read that although their products make your hair really shiny, they also make it so you can't ever use any different products. Which I found a bit creepy. I'll check out the Toni & Guy stuff, I like their products and it's good when you can buy samples. It should be encouraged for all hair and makeup stuff, I've wasted so much money on rubbish full-size products.
