nicole's chatting about bleach again....

but seriously.

i have bleached my hair twice this year, last time was beginning of april. Well it's nearly june and i would like to bleach my roots. BUT according to MANY people, my hair is gonna fall out in horrible clumps if i keep on bleaching.

So... people who bleach their hair on KR.. how often is it ok to bleach? Will I go bald?

please let me know and stop me worrying !

my fringe is blonde and i bleach my roots about once a month. ive been doing this for like 3 or 4 months and so far the majority of my fringe is in tact. so i think you'll be safe. just make sure you buy a really good treatment for it. i like aussie hair 3 minute miracle for coloured hair

I bleached my hair three times in a day and it didn't fall out. Honestly. I doubt it was good for my hair but whatever, it's all good now.

It probably depends on what condition your hair is in when you bleach it, but from the sounds of it you should be okay.

It won't fall out with the roots if that's what you think. As long as you don't bleach the same hair too much (-that will make it stretchy like rubber threads) you'll be fine. Just avoid the already bleached hair as well as you can.

My hair is pink, so I bleach my roots almost once a month. I've been doing it for almost 2 years now. And i have to say nothing bald-like happened to it.

your hair's not going to fall out, but if you process anything you've already bleached further it could lead to bad split ends, dryness, or hair breaking off

i strongly suggest getting it done professionally because root-bleaching is tricky business by yourself, not the same as dying the entire length of your hair.

also don't let them grow too long or they'll turn orange (well depending on how dark your hair is)
what happens if you have very dark hair:
the heat from your scalp accelerates the processing of the bleach, but if you let your roots grow out too far from your scalp and try to bleach them, you will a) end up with two different colors, and b) mostly orange roots and have to bleach twice.

depends how coarse your hair is. I bleached mine 3 times within 2 days and if anything i think it made it better. dead hair is more manageable

I broke a load of hair off the front of mine last time I bleached it, but that was about 3 hours worth with 12% solution. It looks like my hair is thinning now but with weird little stumps of hair in there.

I dunno, what do you normally use and how long do you leave it on? I asked on here before and concensus seemed to be it won't do permanent damage to your roots.

: ) thankyou for the replies, i feel better now. I use l'oreal blonde and it works pretty well, i have had the problem with gingery roots before. I used toner though and it looked better. I definately will keep on bleaching it then.. thanks.

I think that l'oreal one is just a lightener and not a full-on peroxide bleach? But if that does the trick I'd stick with it, it'll do less damage. I've no idea what people are going on about dying it red before bleaching, it'll just get stripped out.

I can't believe I'm talking about hair maintenance on a public forum, even this board. Shoot me plz.
