anyone with dreads? how do you maintain them and if it's posible pics of yre dreads.....

I used to have them when I was 14-16. they were hard to maintain, i had to have my friend help me with them every week.

i bleached them and died them rainbow colours god bless the fuck up i was!

but i wouldnt recommend them. i mean unless your still in your early teens. theyre also really unfashionable nowadays. and the wierd thing is, they gross me out. even though i know that you have to wash 'em

i used to have them for a bit when i was a lot younger. i looked a bit of a to be honest.

Only like, ultra thin really blonde or bright coloured ones or crust dreads are acceptable on white people. Rasta-ish dreads are for black people only.

I've never known anyone with dreads who didn't smell bad because of them. And yes, I know that it's possible to have them and be clean.

My boyfriend has really long dreads...he uses REHAB shampoo from LUSH apprently theyre good for dreads.

I've thought about getting them but I don't really think they're worth it (for me anyways)

I had dreads like this for a brief while. (a few months).

to the op, ultimately I couldn't stand it because I couldn't clean my scalp. my hair has never been greasy or anything, in fact it's quite dry, but it still bugged me that my head never really felt fully clean. I don't have any pictures from that period, but I did attend a friends wedding and there was a video. I can't be arsed to go to lots of trouble right now to take a still shot from it or post the video itself because it's on vhs (do kids even know what that is?) so you'll just have to use your imagination. When I got tired of them I just shaved my head again.

my hair is basically that way too- curly and dry. I've never had them spontaneously come about though I've had some pretty awful tangles. when I was a kid my mom put so much "no more tangles" on my hair that I can still remember the smell.
but anyways, you know I'm mostly just kidding. I don't think the fake dreads are very attractive at all either, but I can understand why someone who couldn't cultivate them naturally would want them bad enough to do that.

I remember watching Brat Camp and a girl had fucking skanky dreads on it and they made her cut them out because she had nits and she was crying it was too funny. She was like "now i look like a lesbian!" because her hair was short. if THATS what you think makes you look like a lesbian

no offense, i'm not really a fan of dreads on girls. I have no idea how a person maintains their dreads, but i remember this guy from my school. His dreads wern't even dreads! just clumps of matted hair. it looked awful. as long as they're done properly, i think they look pretty cool. personally, i'd never get them done though.
