| | | rockabilly/pinup hairstyles I am looking for some really good pics of rockabilly, vintage or pinup hairstyles. I have just been googling for over an hour and I can't believe how hard it is to find anything. I have really been wanting to learn how to style my hair in sort of a rockabilly 40's pinup style, kind of like how Gwen Stefani has done a few times in the past (but not really), and also a good example is the ad for Kat Von D's tattoo show LA ink where all the girls were dressed as pinups and had really cool hair.
And I'm not talking about Bettie Page bangs.
Anyone have any really good pictures, or how-to's on how to do it? |

| | | There was a thread not too long ago. Do a search. Or smittenkittens link might be the same ones from that thread. There was a link to a woman's little utube video where she shows you how easy it is to do the victory rolls or whatever. it was interesting.

| | | I like rockabilly style things you should do a big beehive and put ribbons in it! (no not amy winehouse, ewww)
If you like Betty Fringes but don't want one permanently just put a roller in it. That's what I do. |

| | | I don't like betty page bangs. They are too played out and it seems like every alternative chick has them. I'm sick of them. Also I don't look good with bangs so even if I wanted to, I wouldn't have them. |

quiffs? | Fringes/bangs are a nightmare. I have a long fringe that can be worn down or backcombed and quiffed.
A tip - Clean, just washed hair is so hard to style at the best of times so i use a type of hair grease to make it more manageable. |

shyviolet, i remember you having really curly hair. you'd probably need to straighten it first. my hair is like soft curls and i have to brush it out with a hair dryer first.
do you still want to hear how ppl do it themselves? bc i'll tell you anyway. i don't do the other parts of my head. its already got the body and soft curl needed to pull off the bang on its own. so anyway. i section off the bang and blow dry it with a padde brush. then set it hot rollers going toward my side part and back toward the crown. so its at angle. and let it marinate.
when its totally dry, take the curlers out and comb the curls out. at this point i use a little hair serum and wrap the curl back up in my hand, lay it flat against my head, and pin the curl down. give it a light spraying with hair spray. this sits for a good hour. then it comes out and i run my fingers through it to bounce it back up.
if i didn't pin the curl down it looks. well. it looks like morrissey. and that's just a bad time.

| | | In the town I'm staying in there's a salon called Quiffs. Possibly Quiffz. I'm so tempted to ask them if they could hook me up with one.

I think this is in the same style, right? Sort of.
