| | | From blonde to brunette? I'll start with a pic because it's only fair... I'm in the glasses
My hair is fucked. Last time I went to get my hi-lights done the colourist said it was very dry - suggested I have a deep conditioning treatment (I did) and said that instead of putting a weave of 2 differently toned blondes through it - which is my normal, she was going to do alternating blonde and brunette. Now I have tiger stripes
Help!
I've just been on the save my hair thread and didn't want to hi-jack, so yeah... blue eyes and brunette hair? Would it work? I'm naturally mousey and would like to go a rich dark brunette, I want sharp colour, not wishy-washy. I've never had block colour before and I think I'm ready do try and look sophisticated. But at the same time I'm 25 I got married 4 months ago and I don't want to suddenly ditch the blonde and be all earth-mother. I see loads of amazing brunettes but I'm worried it'll look drab on me? I'm terrifid of being dull.
For people who want to keep it brief-
Will I look shit as a brunette?
Does blue eyes and brunette hair go?
Will I have to change the entire colour of my wardrobe (it's earthy tones, jade green, pale blue - sea side colours)
Will it really increase the condition of my hair?
Should mystars go brunette?
Can I change my mind and go back to blonde if I have a break-down?
Thank you. |

| | Ha. I'm the bride - who looks like Garth Elgar with her hair down.
I've always liked being blonde in a courtneytard kind of way. It's weird. |

| | | Green? lol oh no... poor your hair. Your hair's awesome anyway.
Was it a dye it at home job?
One of my brother's friends hair went wrong while they were at uni. She called all her flat mates in tears and they took it in turns doing shifts holding her had for 4 hours while the colourist tried to get the green to go away. Ouch. |

| | | I guess turning green is your hair's way of saying "stop messing with me" The chemicals can't be good. But my mousey-ness is horrible. It'd be fine if I could pull-off a 40s red lipstick, tea dress look, but I can't be in costume every day. If I was just in jeans and tshirt I'd look ... mousey? lol |

| | I've thought about getting a fringe too, just a half one? Not massively emo but just to get rid of a bit of my five-head. But then my cow's lick always makes it go poof. Urgh I hate my hair, I always got bullied about it at school and now it's being awkward I'm fretting over it again.
I should do a lori-petty in tank girl and shave it off... I guess that's more known as a Britney, than a tank girl now isn't it? How depressing. I'm going to bed and I need to drag himself off his ps3. I might need a mallet Night night xo |

| | | i think you'd look lovely. blue eyes and brown hair is a great combo, and i wouldnt be fussed about the wardrobe.
would you be getting it done professionally? because it's blonde you might have to get a filler to make sure the colour takes, but a rich chocolately brown would be great on you! |

| | | Get it done by a professional first.
You'll probably have to dye your hair red first as a base for the brown. If you don't then your hair will probably go green. |

| | it can definitely be done, and will probably look better than you expect it to. i'm a natural blonde but i think i look better with brown hair. the only reason i don't keep it that colour is because it's too fkn expensive to maintain all the time..
compare:
my hair now -
my hair 3 years ago -
(bad photo, but you get the idea)
so i'm sure you could do it. chocolate brown should be the way to go.

Definitely go for it. |

| | | You would have to be really, really careful about going brunette. I know a girl who looks nearly identical to you, and for a while she had her hair dyed that trendy dark reddish brown. The red picked up all of the bad things about her skin. You've got a red undertone to your skin as well, as most pale natural blondes tend to. If you decide to go brunette, go to a good salon and ask the people there for advice. I think you could pull off a nice light brown with honeyed highlights on top. The reality is that MOST (not all) people look best in some variation of their basic natural shade. Ask a pro, but I'm not sure you should stray too far from blonde when it already suits you so well. |

about 4 months ago i went brunette again. being "mousy" was a big concern for me as well. this time around i had done more research, looked at pictures of celebs with naturally blonde hair that dyed it brunette, looked at skintones, etc. i determined the rich, chocolate brown needed to not have any red tones in it for it to look good on me with my skin. i went to a salon and they used a lot of blue and green tones which looks great and brings out my eyes. i've now gone various shades of dark brown to really really dark brown almost black and as long as there is not a hint of red it looks great.
anyway, i think you should go for it!!! it's really fun to switch it up. almost everyone that has seen me both blonde and brunette prefer the new brunette... except my dad.
the only thing that sucks is roots - because they look really weird, kinda like your hair is thinning so there is potentially more upkeep. when i was in NYC, i had it done again and they said that natural blondes should use semi-permanent dye instead of permanent. the semi does not lift color first (which we don't need), but also it washes out gradually so roots are not as drastic.
also, when i went brunette again recently, i went in two stages. the first time was an all-over brown base and then again darker on top. |

| | | one thing that's just occurred to me and will prob sound stupid to non spectacle wearers, is that you might find you need a different frame style/colour. my hair is usually red or blonde, but when i had it dark brown i had a more delicate frame cause dark hair + dark thick frames is a bit much? |
