| | | ^^^^^ This advice above, are you allergic to anything??? This might account for the swelling...
My favorite lip balm ever is Chapstick Natural, it has no scent and is very very moisturizing...

| | | are you allergic to hemp or nut oils?
A lot of lip glosses have these type of oil and can make your lips burn crack and fall apart if you are allergic. |

| | | The swelling does sound like an allergy. It didn't necesarrily have to be caused by something you consumed, you could be allergic to something you happened to touch that night, anything. I get allergies ALL the time over things that I have no idea what they are. My lips used to swell, too.
Perhaps the cold is affecting your lips? That can explain the flakyness. Keep them moisturized and stay hydrated. Protect them so they won't crack any more which leads to the raw skin/pain. |

| | | lip CREAM instead of lipbalm
clarins do a really nice one or, bit less extravagant, boots 'expert' lip cream's dead nice and works a treat on sore, scabby, flaky lips

| | once you get the swelling thing sorted (maybe see a dermatologist?) dont lick your lips and use neutrogena stuff, i recommend these products:
they're great for while your lips are cracked and healing, and keep em
nice and moisturised but aren't greasy
do you work in an office/work area with insane heating or anything? i find walking to work and then coming into a roasting office really upsets my lips, so i try to reapply throughout the day
with the neutrogena lip balm, it's actually pretty good for mixing with
lippy, so you might be able to use it for some good winter colours too - dont like wearing full lipstick cause i look daft, but it's a good way to tone the colour down and keep your lips happy |

| | | Once the pain/swelling/tenderness subsides, buy a cheap SOFT bristled toothbrush and use it to exfoliate the dead flaky skin from your lips (you brush your lips for about a minute) and slather them with lip balm. As much as I despise Body Shop, their Xmas issue cranberry lip balm is divine and VERY lip friendly.
