| | | I have the same trouble. My individual hairs are really fine but there are loads of them. This year i've managed to get to washing every second night. Since i switched to a Lush shampoo bar (jumping juniper) my hair has been a bit less oily on that inbetween day. I use the bar & a Pantene conditioner. |

| | | is there a day where you can skip leaving the house? i find that if i suffer through a day of greasy hair, and wash my hair after two days, my hair builds up a resistance, and doesn't need to be shampooed for another two days.

| | | Well... sacrifice it for a day. It's worth a shot. If your hair is anything like mine, then it'll build up a resistance and won't be that disgusting once you show it who's boss.

Does washing your hair every day really bother you? If it doesn't i wouldn't worry too much about it. People always say it's bad for you hair but some people just have hair that needs daily washing. I quit doing it daily because my hair takes AGES to dry and i like to have it mostly dry before i go to bed so i have to shower reasonably early for that & showering every night at 8pm or before was annoying. Otherwise i would still wash it daily.
Has not using conditioner made any difference? It really shouldn't make your hair oily if you're rinsing properly. I think it's better to use it than not to.
Also i've found that the weather affects my hair a lot. For example i cannot use Garnier Fructis in summer because it make my hair oily like woah. In winter, when the weather is dryer, it's fine. So it could be the particular shampoo you're using at the moment. Think back and consider if oiliness changes in relation to the season or weather. |

| | | I find I get a build up of oil after a day is over if I'm in the habit of washing everyday. I managed to get into the habit of washing every other day. At first, it would get oily after a day as expected. It started to improve after a couple of washes and it now takes two days to start getting greasy. I think it's a bit like how VenusDeMilo put it - your hair builds up a resisitance. It's like it knows that it's not getting washed so often (which might be drying it out) and thus doesn't need to produce so much oil so quickly.
Just a guess.

| | | i was about to say that: i notice when i dont' wash my hair for a while it balances out naturally though i might wash with water. the past 2 years ive been using shampoo (natural kind) every now and then, usually twice a week or once a week because i do hate dealing with greasy hair . i hate that i'm using shampoo and i notice bu the second day its oily which is just natural hair oils i guess/ how oftem do you change your pillow caseds? i notice that sometimes has a factor on how oily my hair gets. |

Big time, if I leave my pillowcases unwashed for longer than usual then I do find my hair becoming greasy more quickly than it might usually.
