| | | Japanese brands- foaming cleansers Is anyone here familiar with Japanese skincare lines? I guess DHC is one, Shiseido is another, and the one I really liked is Pola? Anyway, years ago I used to use a facial cleanser from Pola called Salus II- it was fragrance free and creamy, and a pea sized amount would lather up into an unbelievably DIVINE amount of foam- no cleanser has ever made my skin feel that clean without feeling stripped and overdried. Japanese cleansers tend to be really foamy like that and they are amazing.
So, Pola Salus II was discontinued...and I used other things for a while. But now I am really craving a nice, luxuriious Japanese foaming cleanser again. Pola is still around, they have other nice cleansers but they are hard to find, a couple of the online shops closed down, that used to sell them. But their available cleansers are not fragrance free.
What I want to know is can anyone recommend something similar that I can order online from Sephora? I WANT to try Shisheido- either the Benefiance foaming cleanser, or The Skincare Gentle cleansing foam. I have heard that they feel nice but have a strong smell. Has anyone used these?
Japanese cleansers are the best though.....need recs! I guess I can always try to track down my old #2 favorite, Pola Vitax foaming cleanser...it's high though. |

| | | I use some of the DHC products but haven't tried a lot of their cleansers yet. I use the Deep Cleansing Oil, for removing makeup. I tried a sample of their washing powder - which was lovely! A small amount would disolve into a creamy cleanser that wasn't drying on my dry skin at all.
If you order from their website, you get to pick out four samples of pretty much anything they carry. Most of their cleansers are bars, and I haven't tried them yet myself but hear good things on the beauty blogs. |

| | | I've used a lot of DHC's stuff- my beef with it is it's expensive for what it is, but it's nice.
The mild facial soap is unscented, and it doesn't cause me to break out, it's just like $40 for 3 bars. For your face, this will last forever, but still. A lot of people complain it's too drying. But I have sensitive skin and it rinses clean and doesn't overdry, it's ok- but honestly, there are mild facial bars from the drugstore that are just as good, like Basis sensitive skin bar. I love DHC's Ceramide Quick in the winter, it stops the dry flakies- it's a liquid like a toner, which I usualyl don't use, but it goes well under a regular moisturizer. DHC's stuff is fragrance free, and a lot of it is good for eczema or sensitive skin. I'd say they're too expensive and have way too many products that are similar, you read the catalog and want everything, you'd go broke trying it all. I never can make up my mind on just ordering 2-3 things.
I really, really want to try a Shiseido cleanser, but I am so afraid it will have a strong scent. I don't want fragrance on my face.
My skin is weird and I am pregnant so it's more weird. It's dry and oily, and blotchy, and ruddy, and bad. I'm also lily white which sucks. I don't tan, although I look much better with a little tan, but my skin is just palid. |

| | | My skin was so wierd when I was pregnant! Since having a kid it's a little bit different than before, but it took a while to get this much back to normal (daughter is 2).
I've tried Shisheido before and found it a bit drying on my skin, but it's been so many years I'd have to try it again.
I wouldn't spend too much on beauty products right now, just enough to last a few months - once you have a baby your skin changes and will continue to change for the first year anyway.
You could go the Cetaphil route for cleansing, or have you tried that already? |

| | | I've tried a Shiseido cleanser and it was really good, but it did have a strong scent. I have used other Shiseido products too, and I have to say that they are quite good.
Have you tried Kanebo? They are very very good too and have a specific cleansing programme. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
