| | | ion hair dryers. are they better for your hair? i usually dont use hair dryers because it just comes out all dried and brittle unless i use some sortof oil treatment beforehand. i cant really afford to keep buying them and would actually prefer not to use them because i like having my hair coated with natural scalp oils for moisture instead of artificial crap. at least i keep being told by hair stylists its better for your hair.
so, ion hair dryers are supposed to NOT dry your hair out like reg ones do, anyone have experience?

| | | I have one from Conair, I can't say it's much different from any other blow dryer I've ever used. Then again my blow dryer was really cheap, there are more expensive "ionic" blow dryers but I'm not honestly sure if they're better.
I use a leave-in spray by Sheer Blonde before I blow dry my hair, it makes my hair feel conditioned versus the usual straw-like feeling after I blow-dry my hair. |

| | | I have basically the same routine as Emily.. I use a leave-in treatment by Brilliant Brunette and then I use one of the cheaper ion Conair.. I can straighten my hair with a straightening brush from Conair and I'm good for the day. I just learned how to do it with a brush and blowdryer, so much fun! |

| | | I know the difference in straighteners and hair products but what's the difference in a $10 blowdryer compared to a $100 blow dryer?
btw, are those vitamin sprays good? like the little sprays with all the vitamins in them you just spray in your hair |

| | | 0k, the one i have has a cool air button. you press it like a trigger and the heat shuts off. i used that setting with teh ion thing turned on and it seemed to work well. hair dried in a normal amount of time and wasnt brittle or dry. also was a little less frizzy than normal. which is probably just teh result of blow drying vs air drying. anyway.
i have to say i like. at least with that cool air setting. i used my reg anti frizz cream which is actually much creamier than oil.

My hair's so damn short right now that it doesn't matter, but I always used additional vitmain treatments. Never tried a spray though, unless it was a general leave-in conditioner.

| | I noticed a slight difference between my new ionic and my old normal hairdryer.. my hair doesn't smell like it's burning after i dry it like it used to haha.
But i rarely blowdry my hair - only if im in a hurry, its still wet & i need to straighten it.
Letting your hair dry naturally is the best thing you can do but if you must use one you should always put a hair protecting product in it before you start drying (something like the ghd iron oil spray or theres a really good product by Matrix, cant remember the name at the moment though - but anyway they don't add oil into your hair as such). |

I use a Charles Worthington blow-dry balm thingy on my hair, that really does stop it drying out and makes it really shiny. The tube's pretty big and you only need a tiny bit so it lasts ages too. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
