How do you determine your shade of blush?

I've never been able to really find one that looked decent, but I'm also not really sure what I'm looking for either. What shades go with what complexions?

It depends a lot on personal taste. In theory, you could wear any colour you like but there are certain shades which will probably suit you better. Are you pale or dark skinned? What colour are your eyes/hair? What make up do you usually wear?
If you are really really clueless you can just go to a make-up counter and ask, they're usually very helpful!

I have pretty fair skin, my eyes and hair are both really dark. Going to the makeup counter has always been a pretty intimidating thing to me, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.

I would avoid brown blushes then, and focus on shades of pink. How much are you willing to spend? Helena Rubinstein makes some wonderful blushes that stay on forever, but they're quite expensive.
