| | | Another haircut thread/Razor Cuts... Ok, my hair is thick. I'm wondering if anyone here has gotten a razor cut. I hear they take a lot of the bulk of thick hair away. Is this true?
I'm just wondering, if I'm going to get my hair cut shoulder length, if I should get someone that knows how to do razor cuts, so i don't end up with a mop top

| | yeah, i have at the salon, and it is good. i also have a razor at home and do it myself sometimes.
my hair used to be really thick, and now it is.. not so thick
it does make your ends feel abit shoddy, BUT i love the way it makes your hair look when it grows abit, and if you use lots of intensive conditioner or hot oils for hair ends (i am lazy so i cant be arsed) i imagine it would get rid of the grotty feeling.

| | | I do it all the time to thin it. It works, but dont over do it or it looks like shit.
If your hair's dry, its not that good of an idea since it will look like fly aways or maaaajor split ends. |

| | | Almost every time I get my hair cut I get a razor cut.. it works, and you can really feel a difference. But it looks better straightened in my opinion, because your hair becomes so choppy. |

| | I had a razor cut about a 5 or 6 year ago and I still carry some awful effects of it. When I opened this thread I thought people will say dont do it but...
All the hairdressers that I know says its bad for the hair. And I must say that my hair is really shiny and thick.
as far as I know(from the pics that I saw) you dye your hair and what I believe, it is getting more worse when you got a razor cut when you've got dyed hair.
if you think your hair can handle it then go for it. |

| | | i have thick overprocessed hair as well and i say do not let them razor cut it. if you really want it thinned out i believe they can do this with thinning shears. the one time i got it razor cut it actually seemed thicker and as others have already said, the ends felt really odd. i prefer scissors any day. |

| | HHmm...Ok...well I'm going Saturday morning.
So I guess I'll see what the girl that's going to cut my hair thinks.
Cause, I'll need to be thinned out if I'm going to have it shorter.
But even though I dye my hair a lot, it's surprisingly in pretty good shape. So I may not have to worry about wack ends if I do go with a razor cut.
Pray for my hair Saturday |

Pray for my hair Saturday | in my experience the razor cutting CAUSED the wack ends. after i get it cut with scissors the ends feel perfect and smooth. immediately after a razor cut they feel split and disgusting. that could just be my hair though. yours may turn out better. |

Pray for my hair Saturday | Don't do it don't do it don't do it! Like others said it will leave you with shitty ends and it hurts when they do it. I have ridiculously thick hair and my stylist just goes through with thinning sheers or scissors and cuts chunks out (it's not sloppy like it sounds) after she's done with the initial cut. It takes out a lot of weight and bulk without using the razor. Just tell the girl that you want to lose some of the bulk without a razor. |

| | | I have thin hair, but I get mine razored because I like the choppy, whispy look.
So I can't tell you if it has any affect on bulkiness, but you will look sexy!

| | | I had a razor cut at a local independant salon, and when I went back to my regular salon, they completely bollocked me and told me that I had completely ruined the ends my hair by having a razor cut. The same can be achieved with scissors. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
