question for people who've had loads of relationships

i want to know if each time you date a new person, do you think of them as potentially your long term partner? after how many relationships did you get cynical about it, if you ever did? or does each new relationship start with hope of a future?

i'm not talking about people who sleep around, but people in relationships they take seriously, if you know what i mean?

i haven't had too many actual relationships, but during each one there was a time when i thought 'he could be the one' (what a rubbish concept, i know)
but i wonder if everyone is like that or if just me being romantic and melodramatic?

tell me if that doesn't make any sense

I have been in 5 "relationships". I took 3 of them seriously. Three times I thought the guy could have been the one.
But you said loads and I wouldn't say 5 would be loads.
I think everyone is like that. I don't think you're being melodramatic, just hopeful.

If you have marriage in your plans for the future, or just something you really want to happen for you than having these 'is he the one' thoughts are completely not dramatic. Partner/lover relationships either end in some sort of commitment or people parting ways. So at some stage of the relationship you start to wonder..

I think having that moment is what makes you realize it's a 'real' relationship. I think I had those moments in all the majoy relationships I've had. It's just a matter of figuring out whether it's just the honeymoon lovey dovey part or if you're really long term compatible.
