| It sounds as though this woman just likes attention from males. If she was aware that her behaviour was overly-suggestive, then my guess is that she hoped you would ask her out just so she could have confirmation than a man likes her in that way. That was undoubtably wrong of her, but consider that she was subconcsiously doing this. I don't see any reason why she would go out of her way to lead you on, she probably has low self-esteem and validates herself through the attention she gets from men like you.
Maybe you've got the wrong end of the stick altogether, though. I'm affectionate by nature, and impulsively call people things like "dear", "love" and "doll" without considering how they might take it. Not to come across all Florence Nightingale, but I honestly have a natural urge to make people happy, and I always think that little things like addressing them affectionately and little compliments can go a long way in that sense. I think this because I know it would personally make me feel better if people behaved that way towards me. I suppose I have it in my head that I'm making them feel good, but it doesn't occur to me that anything may come of it. Perhaps this woman just wanted you to percieve her as a nice, affectionate person. Perhaps this woman just wanted you to feel good for a few seconds.
