i've been trying to word a reply to this for ages but it's not happening.

when someone in a class doesnt speak all the time everyone else tends to forget about them (that sounds harsh but you know what i mean yeah) & not try to speak to them anymore, that's prob whats happened - not them disliking you or not wanting to be your friend or anything.

it doesnt sound like you really like them anyway tbh?
but if youre deadset on it then just casually wander over & chat away acting like you're confident. i once seen someone invite themselves on a lunchtime outting with a "group"in a class once & it rocked me to the CORE but no-one else seemed bothered!
i think the key is to not overthinking it, just act & dont be concerned with what they might be thinking cause their just acquaintances after~

CAREFREE ATTITUDE

i agree with rosaline. don't put too much thought or pressure into it. and don't try to force or fake something. just treat them like they are ordinary people. be nice. maybe bring candy to work or something. and offer some to everybody. and plan a gathering somewhere. at your house even. and you know. you can be honest and talk to them.

you know. i am not putting you down. this is just something that i don't get. like i have moved different places and go to different places and been in sooo many situations where i am in a room full of people i don't know. and i can talk to anyone. we were discussing this in a work meeting the other day. everyone that i had never physically met said they were excited to meet me because they loved talking to me on the phone or in conference call. talking is my thing. and i guess i don't care whether people don't like me or not. and most people tend to respond well to that. but, we had a few people who were honest about having some of the same problems you have with social anxiety. and after they were honest about it, it just kind of broke the ice. and i made it a point to include the people who seemed shy and focused a bit more attention on them. and they kind of got comfortable and relaxed and opened up and participated more in the discussions.

tbh I have a similar situation to you. but Ive told myself to concerntrate on outside of work. If you kepe doing things and not let them get to you, you wont care..just dont worry about them. i know its hard not to but they just arent worth the energy.

yesterday at work my work colleague was pulled up by management who asked her whether she was having an affair with another work colleague and that the manager had two people report this to her. My work colleague denied it and so did the other however it upset her as its a rumour and the manager wasnt listening to her side of the story. I didnt even know of this rumour and I have to say that Im sort of glad I had distant myself from work lately as yesterday illustrated that work and pleasure can be **** and the people I work with are so two-faced that Im glad and happy not to go out with them on work nights out etc..Your work colleagues may be decent people though.

a little devil, imagine this. on the day (thursday) that they were talking ab the party...X worker who was at home got a text message from another Y. Y told X she was going to get locked up. X texted another co-worker who was in at the time to let her know. then this last one called X to get the full srory. After she got the full story she returned in the office saying really loud to another one (who was having the party): "Y is getting locked up" and how she told X to be careful with Y. in other words big drama. even though they are in the same clique, i don't think one would want everyone to know what is going on. so, why X spread the news is beyond me. the 2 who were at work talked really loud ab it and for a minute i wanted to go ask them what happened, but decided against it..i'm glad i did. i'm sure this was a big topic of discussion at the party and frankly, i think it's better to be out of it.

so, in the end, what i don't get is the clique mentality. is this common? where i'm from cliques are most prevalent in middle school and high-school.
